Please fill in this agreement form before you arrive, it will save having to fill in by pen so will save a lot of time when things are busy, getting you into the range as quickly as possible. When you have filled it in, a PDF will be shown and a copy emailed to you for your records. Please print the PDF and sign it. We require a signed form from anyone who wishes to shoot.
1) NEVER POINT A FIREARM AT A PERSON OR ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO SHOOT - No matter how sure you are that the firearm is unloaded, NEVER point at anyone. Breaking this rule will result in immediate removal from the range.
2) ALWAYS PROVE A FIREARM IS UNLOADED - If you pick up a firearm, pass it to someone or have it passed to you, check it is unloaded, even if you have just seen someone else check.
3) DO NOT LOAD A FIREARM UNTIL YOU ARE AT THE FIRING POINT - A firearm does not need to be loaded anywhere else. Magazines may be loaded in other locations but must not be inserted until at the firing point.
4) KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT - Don't touch the trigger until your target is in your sights and you are ready to shoot.
5) DO NOT PICK UP A FIREARM OR AMMUNITION WITHOUT ASKING - Never touch or pick up a firearm without asking. You have no idea of the state of the firearm or it may even be in the process of being serviced and parts may fall out.
6) DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL OR DRUGS - You will not be allowed on the range if you are suspected of drinking alcohol or taking drugs.
7) DO NOT REMOVE AMMUNITION FROM THE RANGE - It is a severe criminal offence to remove ammunition from the range unless you hold a valid license for that specific ammunition.
8) YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU SHOOT - Be aware of what you are aiming at and what's behind it. If you pull the trigger, you are responsible for what ever the bullet hits.
9) BE AWARE THAT THE RANGE HAS GUN POWDER RESIDUE WHICH MAY MARK CLOTHING - Although the range is cleaned regularly there will be spent powder on the floor and surfaces. If shooting from a kneeling position knees may get dirty. If resting on a table or shooting pod you may get spent powder on your clothing.
10) H&S - Firing a bullet through a gun will normally cause a loud bang. Hearing protection must be worn all the time in the range unless told to remove such protection. Hearing defenders will be provided but you may bring your own if you prefer. Those shooting may be given electronic defenders to ensure the instructor or Range Conducting Officer can be heard. Eye protection is recommended, these can be provided upon request. In an emergency a long blow of a whistle will be heard. In such cases place the firearm on a safe surface and stand back from it.
11) DATA - I understand the need for OSA to keep records of my attendance and that they may be handed to the police but will not be handed to any other party without a court order. We may inform you of upcoming events which we think you may be interested in - you can unsubscribe at any time.
12) SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES - We are obliged to notify Thames Valley Police and provide them with your personal details should your use of firearms raise any suspicion.
I hereby declare that I have read these rules and fully understand them. I understand that breaking these rules could be considered a very serious safety issue which may result in an offender immediately being removed from the range under which circumstances no refund will be given.
In signing below I confirm that I am not prohibited under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 (as amended) from the possession of a firearm and ammunition, nor have I had an application for the grant or renewal of a firearm or shotgun certificate, or registration as a firearms dealer refused or revoked or partially revoked.
